Best practices in the construction industry were recognized by the St. Louis Council of Construction Consumers (SLCCC) during its annual awards on December 16, 2010 at the Sheraton Westport Lakeside Chalet, St. Louis, MO.
Construction of the Express Scripts Technology and Innovation Center earned a best practices award, featuring outstanding use of materials management. The 250,000 square foot facility provides pharmacy and warehouse facilities with automated dispensing equipment capable of dispensing 110,000 prescriptions per day. Built on a fast track schedule, it required steel fabrication acceleration, mechanical and electrical procurement and expediting of items normally requiring long lead times. Members of the winning team included Express Scripts, North Park Partners, Clayco / Paric Joint Venture, Forum Studio and the City of Berkeley, MO.
There are fourteen best practices which have been validated by the Construction Industry Institute (CII) to provide savings in cost and schedule. Validation is based on results from projects throughout the country. The CII is recognized as a principal construction industry forum for improving the business effectiveness and sustainability of capital facilities.
