Lenoir Woods Breaks Ground on $50 Million Expansion

Posted on December 5, 2011

Standing in front of more than 100 residents, business partners, and employees, Lenoir Woods‘ Executive Director Kent Kirkwood couldn’t have looked more pleased. “Here at Lenoir Woods, we are surrounded by names of supporters from our 60-year history. Epple Chapel. Nifong Hall. While we always want to honor the past, today is about moving into the future.”

And Lenoir Woods is poised to do just that. The November 1 groundbreaking at the Columbia, Missouri, senior living community represented the start of a $50 million expansion project designed to reposition the campus to meet the changing needs of today’s seniors.

The project, led by Paric Construction, will enhance nearly every facet of life at Lenoir Woods. The assisted living apartments will be replaced by a brand new building. The health care center will be moved to a state-of-the-art building built on a household model and located closer to the heart of the community. More independent living apartments will be added, as well as a recreation center featuring an indoor swimming pool.

“This expansion will rejuvenate and renew this community, and reposition it for tomorrow,” said John Kotovsky, LSS president. “With the great team we have working on this, I expect Lenoir Woods to be the very best in Columbia.”

Columbia Mayor Bob McDavid has also has high expectations for Lenoir Woods’ changes — which will bring hundreds of new construction jobs to the region — and during his remarks called the project a “welcome addition” to the city’s cultural landscape.
