Fast-Track Project Must Be Completed For KIPP To Welcome First Students In Early July

Paric Corporation kicks-off a fast-track project for the KIPP (Knowledge Is Power Program) charter school this week to re-model and upgrade the former St. Francis de Sales high school just off Gravois Avenue in the City of St. Louis.

Because KIPP will welcome its first St. Louis students in early July, Paric’s interiors group must complete the first phase of the $700,000 project by June 22, in only five weeks.

The first phase includes about 10,000 square feet of classrooms, offices and other facilities on the street level.  The total project to update all three floors of the school is scheduled to be completed this year, according to KIPP Inspire Academy School Leader and Founder Jeremy Esposito.

In the first year, KIPP is enrolling only fifth graders and plans to add one grade a year until becoming a fifth through eighth grade public middle school.

KIPP has leased the former St. Francis de Sales high school from the Catholic Archdiocese of St. Louis, according to Esposito.

KIPP has selected St. Louis as its only new national expansion site for this year.  Washington University has been designated as the authorizer, or sponsor, of the KIPP Inspire Academy charter school.
