The long-vacant Beaux Arts complex has been transformed into the first charter visual and performing arts school in the state. The $21.4 million conversion at 711 N. Grand for Confluence Academy’s new Grand Center Arts Academy features a two-story structure facing Grand Avenue, with a seven-story building to the west, Pythias Hall, connected by elevators and staircases. Parking decks on the lower levels of the larger structure have been converted into classroom space. Combined, the two buildings total 115,000 square feet. The school will ultimately have 750 students in sixth through 12th grades, more than 100 teachers and staff.
