This headquarters for Express Scripts was built in two phases. Phase I included a 315,000 sq.ft. build-to-suit headquarters for the St. Louis-based, prescription management firm and was completed ahead of schedule, in just 17 months.
The MDF room was approximately 1,800 sq.ft. which includes raised flooring, installed supplemental cooling, UPS system, and an automatic transfer switch to emergency generator.
LEED certification of Express Scripts was based on a number of green design and construction features. These features include a white roof, bamboo and cork floors, energy-efficient mechanical and electrical systems, low-flow plumbing fixtures and motion detector lights. The structure features a three-story atrium with a suspended grand staircase, glass curtainwall, and a lower-level cafeteria overlooking a lake.
The Phase II building project included about 181,000 sq.ft. of office space, a three level parking garage, and two surface parking lots. The new building holds 900 employees. Similar to Phase I, the new building was registered for LEED certification. At the time of completion, these buildings were the largest green project in Missouri.
