Position Overview:
As an Estimating Director, you will lead the Estimating department, overseeing all estimating staff and efforts across complex projects and scopes. You will be responsible for building and mentoring high-performing teams, ensuring quality and accuracy in all pricing deliverables, and supporting strategic preconstruction initiatives. This leadership role combines technical expertise with strategic planning and cross-functional coordination. You will provide oversight on all efforts, maintain estimating standards and databases, and help guide staffing and resource planning at the departmental level.
Responsibilities
• Lead and perform pricing efforts for large, complex projects, including risk identification and mitigation strategies
• Oversee all estimating staff and provide guidance, mentorship, and accountability across the team
• Produce and review estimates from Conceptual through Hard Bid/GMP phases across all Divisions, including MEP systems
• Understand and price General Requirements and General Conditions; review estimates produced by others
• Create, update, and review profitability plans
• Participate in client-facing sales presentations, interviews, and estimating deliverable reviews
• Develop and maintain subcontractor and industry relationships
• Implement buyout procedures; review Scope of Work exhibits and General Requirements
• Provide leadership in solving complex estimating and construction challenges with creative and client-aligned solutions
• Review constructability and demonstrate a deep understanding of complex construction practices and sequencing
• Ensure compliance with estimating standards; drive process improvements and technology initiatives
• Maintain the company’s cost database and research market trends to support escalation forecasting and client communication
• Develop and execute subcontracting strategies including diversity, geographic reach, and self-perform planning
• Assist VP with staffing strategy, hiring, and team development
• Coordinate departmental people/resource needs with executive leadership; communicate risks and updates proactively

Skills and Qualifications
Required:
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
• Minimum 15 years of experience in estimating, preconstruction, or related construction leadership
• Deep expertise in all CSI Divisions, MEP systems, and unit pricing strategies
• Demonstrated success in leading teams and mentoring estimating professionals
• Strong communication and executive presence in client and internal settings
• Advanced proficiency with estimating tools and cost databases
Preferred:
• Experience overseeing multi-disciplinary estimating teams
• Strategic mindset and ability to improve processes and workflows
• Proven ability to support staffing strategy and organizational planning
• Familiarity with market trend analysis and escalation forecasting
