PARIC recently partnered with Plante Moran Living Forward and Retirement DYNAMICS, two of the nation’s leading senior living consulting firms, who surveyed more than 23,000 residents and staff at senior independent living communities across the country, along with prospective future residents. While prospects worried about social isolation, shopping and other daily tasks when living in their own homes, survey results showed only a slight decrease in their likelihood to move into an independent living community as a result of the pandemic.
The survey revealed that 93% of residents felt their community took all precautions to keep them safe during COVID-19 and that 92% of staff felt that their community responded well to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the survey also revealed that both prospective residents (61%) and existing residents (68%) felt socially isolated during the pandemic.
Inside the report, our senior living experts offer crucial insights on:
- How a builder can help senior living facilities overcome current obstacles on their active campus
- What can be retrofitted into a current campus to help reduce transmission
- How senior living facilities can plan for future shelter-in-place scenarios
