Position Summary

PARIC Corp, one of the top general construction companies in the region, is now hiring a Project Accounting Director to join our team. The Project Accounting Director reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer and is responsible for managing multiple accounting activities including month end close responsibilities, job cost consolidation and reporting, financial management and analysis of construction projects, preparation of customer pay applications, and subcontract payables.  This position will also be part of the team that develops and maintains the company’s internal control framework, including the implementation of policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements are developed on a monthly basis.  The Project Accounting Director supervises a team of seven, consisting of project controllers and accountants, and is responsible for managing the team to ensure work is properly allocated and completed in a timely, accurate and efficient manner.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting required – CPA and/or MBA strongly preferred

Years of Experience

  • 10+ years of progressive project accounting/controllership experience
  • 5+ years in a supervisory role
  • Experience in the construction industry

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work across multiple departments to complete a project or resolve an organizational challenge
  • Ability to apply background and experiences to new situations to implement change
  • A ‘hands on’ individual who is able to prioritize, work to tight deadlines, display a sense of urgency, as well as be detail orientated
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to relate to all levels of an organization, including senior management
  • Proven experience learning and utilizing multiple ERP systems with an advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel

Position Duties/Tasks

  • Design processes and utilize systems to drive efficiency, accuracy, and compliance that meet current needs and are scalable for continuous growth
  • Ensure accurate and timely project costing and reporting with adherence to appropriate internal controls and accounting practices
  • Provide analysis and guidance to project teams, highlighting potential project risks and opportunities, to guide decision making across the organization
  • Handle day-to-day accounting activities, including budget set-up, preparation of pay applications, and required journal entries for high-visibility and complex projects
  • Maintain a culture of continuous improvement across the team, working to reduce/eliminate non-value added activities
  • Lead the monthly forecast and annual budget process from a revenue and margin perspective, highlighting key performance drivers, assumptions, risks, and opportunities
  • Support ad-hoc requests from various internal customers (Operations, Risk Management, Senior Management) for project related cost info and insights
  • Lead and motivate the job cost accounting team by setting performance standards, monitoring performance, and providing feedback
  • Other responsibilities as assigned
