Position Description

The Sr. Financial Analyst reports to the Sr. Accounting Manager and will be responsible for full accounting and FP&A oversight of two wholly owned subsidiaries, including project control, general ledger, corporate accounting, financial reporting, annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and variance analysis.  This position is responsible for implementing the organization’s job cost accounting systems to accurately report and maximize the profitability of projects.  The individual will also be responsible for influencing strategy through data driven analysis, creating and driving effective and efficient processes, and overseeing execution against company objectives and goals.

Responsibilities

  • Project Accounting
    • Create and maintain cost books for all projects
    • Prepare monthly project pay applications with required backup
    • Process all sub payables; review for accuracy against contract and ITD billings, receive proper approval, cut checks and assist with compliance as required
    • Prepare monthly job status reporting for corporate financial statements
    • Support the project team through analysis and reporting to highlight potential opportunities and/or risks
  • Corporate Accounting
    • Monitor month-end close checklist and ensure all activities are completed timely and accurately
    • Prepare and review monthly journal entries and account reconciliations
    • Work closely with intercompany partners to ensure accounts reconcile monthly
    • Generate monthly financial statements and provide analysis and explanation of variances to forecast and plan
    • Respond to management inquiries regarding financial results and special reporting requests
    • Work to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit
    • Consistently challenge current processes to drive efficiencies and strengthen internal controls
  • Financial Planning & Analysis
    • Oversee the annual budgeting and planning process
    • Coordinate monthly forecasts, including revenue, margin, and overhead expenses; facilitate monthly reviews with managers to drive accountability
    • Manage all overhead expenses and help business partners make better informed spending decisions
    • Evaluate current processes, identify best practices, develop plans, and implement process improvements to reduce time, improve accuracy, and generate cost savings within the accounting and finance groups
    • Leverage expertise to determine best approach to organize and extract data from the current ERP system (CMiC) to create value-add reports and analysis for senior leadership
    • Assist with ad-hoc projects and requests as required
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and a very dynamic business environment
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to relate to all levels of an organization, including senior management
  • Proven experience learning and utilizing multiple ERP systems with an advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting required – CPA or MBA strongly preferred

Years of Experience

  • 5-8 years of progressive accounting and finance experience
  • Experience in the construction industry preferred
