Position Overview:
As a Sr. Estimator I, you will lead comprehensive estimating efforts across all scopes of work with limited oversight. This position is ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives on strategic thinking, detailed execution, and team development. You will oversee full estimate preparation, mentor team members, implement creative problem-solving, and actively contribute to client-facing engagements. Your leadership will be instrumental in shaping strong estimating teams and driving process improvement across preconstruction efforts.
Responsibilities
- Perform and lead complete pricing efforts across all scopes of work
- Produce detailed estimates from conceptual through Hard Bid/GMP phases, including MEP and all CSI Divisions
- Understand and accurately price General Requirements and General Conditions
- Build and develop strong, motivated estimating teams; mentor Estimators and lead efforts with clear accountability
- Create and maintain project profitability plans and monitor performance
- Participate in client-facing presentations, sales interviews, and deliverable reviews
- Develop and maintain strong subcontractor and industry relationships
- Lead buyout efforts; write and review Scope of Work exhibits and General Requirements
- Apply creative problem-solving to improve efficiency, reduce cost, and deliver value-aligned client solutions
- Review constructability and apply field-based construction knowledge to estimates
- Ensure process compliance and actively identify opportunities for technology and workflow improvements
- Develop and execute subcontracting strategies, including geographic, diversity, and self-perform considerations
- Coordinate with architects, engineers, owners, and internal departments for clear communication and alignment
- Communicate resource needs, timeline changes, and risks to the VP and leadership team in a timely, effective manner
- Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 8 years of experience in construction estimating or preconstruction
- Strong technical knowledge of CSI Divisions, MEP systems, and construction sequencing
- Proficiency with estimating software and tools
- Proven ability to mentor teams and lead complex estimating efforts
- Strong communication, leadership, and presentation skills
- Experience in sales support or client presentations
- Knowledge of subcontracting strategy and diversity planning
- Familiarity with estimating technology and process improvement tools
