Start Building Your Future: PARIC’s Internship Program

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

PARIC’s summer internship program is built to provide undergraduate college students with hands-on experience and the framework to shape a successful career. For 11 weeks, students are paired with mentors and work side-by-side to learn the fundamentals of the construction industry. While working directly with project management, field operations and support departments, interns have the opportunity to support day-to-day operations throughout all stages of active construction projects.

Students are presented with the unique opportunity to experience various aspects of the construction process – from conception to completion – through a variety of jobsite tours throughout the program.

CULTURE

The road to success begins with PARIC’s core values. These core values are the core principles that bind our team together. In this spirit, all interns have the opportunity to participate in a community outreach project to fully experience life at PARIC.

In addition to on-site job training and community outreach, interns will learn the value of PARIC’s culture through team building activities. Our team building activities are designed to develop supportive partnerships and cross-functional collaboration. These carefully curated activities encourage creativity and innovation that will aid in the development of their careers.

The goal of PARIC’s internship program is to help build the foundation of one’s career by providing interns with the tools needed to be successful. Through firsthand jobsite experience and cultural immersion, PARIC strives to develop the next generation of industry leaders.

Kansas City Business Journal Selects One Nine Vine for Mixed-Used Capstone Award

PARIC’s One Nine Vine has earned the 2024 Kansas City Business Journal Mixed-Use Capstone Award.  Since 2005, The Kansas City Business Journal has recognized real estate development projects that have made a positive impact on the Kansas City area.

One Nine Vine serves as phase one of a redevelopment plan in the 18th and Vine District which aims to revitalize the internationally recognized origin of jazz music and the historic hub of African- American businesses. PARIC recognizes the importance of MBE/WBE and the greater impact of our community. We believe our workforce must represent the community and the goal of the program is to provide max opportunity for minority and women-owned firms. With a goal of 17% MBE participation, this transformative project successfully achieved 30% MBE Participation and 6% WBE.

Since 2006, One Nine Vine is the first multi-family, market-rate attainable and affordable housing development built in the historic Jazz District.  Completed in October 2023, this six-story, 81,550 sq. ft. mixed-use development includes 17,500 sq. ft. of first floor retail and commercial space, 30 one-bedroom units and 50 two-bedroom units. Every apartment unit features a balcony and units on the west side offers views of the downtown Kansas City skyline. In addition to the 30 covered parking stalls and 55 surface parking surface parking spaces, the design allows for future installation of EV charging stations on the apartment grounds.

PARIC’s ability to self-perform overcame the labor shortages due to the city’s ongoing projects. PARIC is one of the largest employers of trades people in the region with years of experience.  Our capabilities to self-perform the interior finish carpentry, doors, frames and hardware at One Nine Vine offered greater control of both quality and safety. In addition to facing labor shortages, PARIC’s team encountered 75 weather days. PARIC’s ability self-perform allows for increased schedule control, as we were able to influence the pace of construction which allowed us to stay on-track throughout the project.
